encouragement

i duly note that dashed dreams
and commonplace tragedies
are not exclusive to any party
in particular whatsoever;
though after, it’s about picking
oneself up, though after, it’s
about how you crawl from
your imminently destined grave.

you,
so…

Seeing the End

I’ve seen doors locked for all time,
purpose in moments changed,
and boxes closed indefinitely

with familiar occupants inside.
Yet, still I lift my head in ice pellets
coming down on the campus mall,

and still my view is fixed straight-
forward when allowed, and with
this aside, and taking on alternatives.

I exist in a one bedroom apartment
in Southeast, brushing teeth, put-
ting my eyeballs in to see just this.

Right/Wrong

Some wrong is right, some right is wrong;
the only matter is who sings the song.

Reassessing Religion

Thou shall not behead Anyone, ever.

Thou shall not use the “Lord’s” name in vain.

Thou shall not wage Wars in my honor.

Thou shall not Believe in fictitious “Gods”.

Questions for Asking:

If I exist,

Can you see me?

If I am all-seeing,

Can you see me?

Do you see what I mean?

Ruled by Cats

Dust management,

scoop,

Lid removed;

Stench to prove-

Ammonia and hardened poop.

This moment,

What it is.

No king cleans out cat shit.

In the air hangs

remnants of digested remains.

Eyes pained

Hands to rearrange

Next to the toilet stool

What a silly fool

To be a cat;

To actually rule.

flat tires have transpired

Witness: flat tires have transpired;

U-lock and steel wires- cables,

odds and ends, curses,

fixed up again, pole stance.

Como commute now,

she sits near Black window-

steam, heat, and coffee aroma…

running to- somehow.

Girls stand at the bus stop bench

asking, ever simple

questions of schedules

and Joe’s market view edibles.

On! this box with wheels,

Alternatives- let it go.

Running thru humid air

Nalgene splash uneven

Hot breaths, punctual care

Step by step to there.

Flat tires have transpired.

Days described disrepair.

Man Man at Triple Rock

Observant trend scene,
Heavy tattoo engrained,
Faux-tough and minor mean,
Façade, true, is claimed.

Street: Riverside, easy ride:
Perspective existing local,
Patched bags for small fries;
Real hipsters for yokels.

Through Cultures and Vultures,
Much Music and Trash-
Relative status shown vouchers,
Can’t see; bright lights we lack.

Stand in short lines outside.
Killing self with thin cigarettes;
Realize these lies through eyes,
One puff at a time, we forget-

Dive into undulating pool of people
Scuffed tennis shoes tied loose,
Sweat smell we breathe through-
Sip expensive cheap rail booze.

Catch the Route 2 Bus to be,
This night-life part of the city.

Motto: seen you there before, but never met, as in meet.
Standing dirty wet floor below feet until it’s time to leave.

Entitlement Changes Everything,

I won’t buy shit I don’t need.
I won’t sell worthless materials.
I won’t attempt to acquire possession,
save foil distraught people.

I won’t sellout my “loved ones”.
I won’t assume the intent of the dead.
I won’t speak implementing conjecture;
spinning cobwebs in your head.

I won’t suddenly change on point;
giving up my morals and ethos.
I won’t stare you in the face,
passing along “truths”- steeped in apocryphal.

I won’t because I can’t;
my spine remains intact.
My brains still function proper,
processing small things, this and that.

My train is still on the tracks,
just coming out of the station.
Presently I sit in thought,
pondering every situation.

I won’t bend to others’ whims.
I won’t listen to frivolous debate.
I won’t exist in sedentary situations,
or act foolishly in haste.

Moreover, I ask the lot,
In a common sense place:
Won’t you do the same?
Won’t you do the same?

So now that I’ve come forward you can take a lesson from me
Put away all your assumptions and let your words flow free.

You know my name;
It’s the same as my dad’s.
Everyone “knows” what he would have wanted,
weighing a lifetime, possessions in their hands.

__Pizza

__Pizza,

For trauma
For party
For hunger

-Just pizza

I am addicted to pizza…

It’s an excessive fixation

And:

I think I’ve had a slice of pizza
For every situation I’ve been in.

Josh Hartnett at Nick and Eddie’s

Dark dingy back room parlor

Josh Hartnett served simply

My roommate sat farther

She talked- speaking briskly

He seldom leaned over

Pouring glasses for the tipsy

She became lucid sober

‘Twas her eyes made her frisky

She couldn’t believe I ordered

Stepped up to get closer

He splashed me some whiskey

I lean on the bar, and into my shoulder

I thought as I watched

Amber drops hit the glass

He looked at me

This was just a passing chance

On those about town

On those we see around.
