pleasant cricket sounds

as beautiful
and pleasant
as cricket’s may sound,
sometimes
they sound like
a broken in car
a few blocks down,
or my alarm clock
after hitting hard
the snooze
button, … so it’s
not so beautiful
or pleasant
or a treasure to take in,
you hear me?
but sometimes.

what i know.

what i know
about life
is that people
only want
change if
they create it
themselves;
likewise
with poetry,
people only want
words, art, ideas,
-poetry
if they create
it themselves.
i would
cite the editors,
the talking heads,
the publications,
the reviewers,
and their
best of friends
in foggy dawn
on a
hot summer’s day,
i would
but i didn’t
create them.
and that is why they
read
only the best.
ssshhhhhhhhhh…

Unmoving

Ears of creation
Heard close on actions promised,
But what of the hands?

NBD MPR

Listen:

Black ice with a dust of snow;
Causing foul for the work commute.
Dramatic TransAsia plane crash,
Beheadings and rebel fighting too.

-How about you?

Today’s News is blasé-

Most are concerned about the reality of:

Student debt,
Health insurance,
Early class start times,
And designer coffee that is simply too hot.

They keep us distracted and informed.

Conversation’s Plight

I remember when words had meaning;
A man was only as good as his word.
I thought about this over a conversation,
As my partner’s words were never heard.

Local Public Radio

Frequency of seldom infrequency,
static-noised air to patient ear,
while colored with sun near a bus
or at the beach drinking beers.

Electric sounds come forth in waves
causation to rethink a certain thought,
eclectic colloquialisms, esoteric anecdotes;
meaning and purpose somewhat lost.

Effect and affect the way we make change,
asking questions: who, what, where, when, and why (?)
Coming from a time, this by-gone era,
not much action; save weather in the sky.

And yet always so much to say though,
because this is my local public radio.

Something we won’t see, or Late Winter Warmth

Something we won’t see, or Late Winter Warmth,

A Winter Libretto:

A reverse-coned icicle hangs dripping

Stalactites warm on the outside; frozen solid within.

Bringing a liquid heartbeat sound below-

Drip, beat, drip

Drip, beat, drip

Until gravity plucks this fragile form

Fleeting-

Spinning-

Crashing- it to the red brick ground.

Broken to bits, transparent

Pieces scattered about

No shape of the passing account.

Clear chemical solid cubes now.

Lying there broken

With these, no resemblance he could find to the picture in his mind

He looked to the sky to spy another sharp point growing in time.
