untitled 59

Skyscrapers and spires in the cool of night,
downtown & away, in the darkened light.
And we do what it is to make such sight burn,
we open eyes on what makes the soul yearn.

sight from the sidewalk in a small town

sun up where
feet walk bare,

a leashed dog sniffs
at frosted ground.

gun shots pop softly
in a valley afar,

and barks from
down the block.

outside a paper
rests rolled, and banded.

here waving hands
move light behind

a pickup truck’s
clear windshield view.

chores and thoughts
in crab apple view;

what broke the day
gave back tenfold whole,

what chance had Chica
to have her piss.

The Morning After (Downtown La Crosse)

The morning after,

Early new day;
“Bar hair” and Fishbowls,
Smell of smoke,
Sore throat-

Subtle suggestions: Let’s walk down by the river.
Last night’s concepts seem less conducive to life.

Now,
Light which sneaks
Through venetians blinds.

_even though they are closed.

Painful to eyes-
And then a piss.
Then a brush of teeth,
Under dry lips.

Moving,
Aching,
Wasting,
Stiff tender bits-

The evening before, knowing full well it would come to this.
Downtown: the nightlife, old friends, the drinks, to witness.

From Books to Blogs; A Story of Evolution

From books to blogs like cats and dogs;

We’re surrounded by a million writers with a million words,

Wanting to get read and be heard- absurd.

Zombies scare me less.

How to Be a Famous Writer:

Start today, don’t delay, and get on your way.

Print press doesn’t pay like they say.

It only takes a few seconds to change your ways.

Like Flies on Shit.

What’s an artist’s wage?

Cost per page?

Adverts?

MPR broadcasts their crying.

You’d think people were dying.

Do they even fucking read?

I could hardly hold back my laughter.

Then we look at progress, and the prospects.

Not finding a silver-lining.

No room for wining and dining.

You find that surprising?

No one’s getting fatter.

This hobby wasn’t to fill any part of any wallet.

Act like Author Gods but they haven’t yet penned their ‘Hobbit’.

Just minds and thoughts figuring how those unique (everyone) call it.

They were so close, but they lost it.

I want to vomit.

I don’t see.

They follow what they want to be.

Flee to the next scheme…

But sadly others have been there before; up, down, and in between; twice, three times, maybe four.

Do we need anymore?

Can we chart forward progress by going backward?

Recline, sit in a chair.

Analyze, document, look, read, compare,

Tense up and think about how life is unfair.

Are you prepared?

Open Market, Open Mic, there’s an Open Season on the Weekend Artist tonight.

-Awake and aware of the unawares.

-Happily, a positive outlier without a care.

Counter parts rest comfortably under stairs.

Understand the standard deviation and mean,

But not meaning to be mean-

All part of the artistry in the Minneapolis Scene,

Wipe ass with freshly torn pages.

Print press has changed throughout the ages,

And they present new material as if it’s not dated…

Faded yellow on a dusty shelf.

He called it sleeping knowledge.

I think his popularity needs help.

And all of those resources have been wasted.

They don’t factor external cost,

They can’t calculate their displacement*.

At least hope and ambition aren’t lost.

Blue Sky Float By

Guten Tag:

We spoke in intrusive sunlight of lacking shade.

We spoke of latter days.

We spoke anyway.

Yoga attire balanced high wire; elegance at foot, gracefully placed.

The looks that took.

Buses and bikes passed, and stopped, as cars drove on.

Dew covered leaves, bright colors scatter the green grass ground,

Only to break, crush, and turn brown, all spinning around.

When asked about this conversation I said I didn’t know.

There was no answer,

to no question.

Somethings just mentioned.

One can liken it to the blue sky; no sum, just something beautiful, an entity floating by.

Lessons we learn on the whim of a wave of attention.

Moving as fleeting dust from fluttering sparrow wingspan.

Trivial sorts affection.

A dram of logic,

Stop this human project.

As we walk and flow through others,

On separate paths,

We have but such a chance to interact.

The total might be intrigue indeed, ask and you shall see.

GERN.

Ich mag Diskussionnen.

Sleep

Blot out the sand from my eyes,

One finger at a time.

Remind me why we wake…

And have the day we take to date.

And say the things we’ve said

Run the thoughts from my head.

They run me through.

If you only knew.

They don’t notice you.

Dead until new.

Right here too.

Logic:

Equals belief.

Logic:

Equals avoid fools.

Logic:

Equals go to sleep.

Logic:

Equals the one right tool.

Another day.

Another day.

Another day.

What did she say?

I don’t remember, and I can’t ask her anymore.

We hope the sun will cut the haze, and then we hope for shade.

Winter Solstice

A semblance of light as seen in the dark, amid transport, a mere spark; washboard streets littered with ice and snow, touched slightly by brown matter, illuminated by waxy yellow bulbs which hang above, and the semi shown moon, shaded frequent by cloud mass.

(Life is a class, an education, always learning something new.)

Your doubts are about you, your mind wonders to something true.

Traveling is innate and thoughtless.

Time travel is priceless.

A punctual prospect.

Darkness seems darkest before the shortest day of annual; winter depression has just set in, and already, it has worn out its welcome.

Depression is subjective.

Who can object?

I doubt them.

The loved ones are gone, here for a moment, then away again in the next.

We have fought, we have thought, we have cherished the moments we have lost, and then our mind is flexed.

Vexed.

We do what is best, we do nothing.

We stretch out waiting patiently for the rest, then we subject ourselves to something.

The seasons.

A destination is met.

I look outside once more before I shut the door on a winter’s day.

What have I to forget?
